Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, CAS# 25383-99-7, is a versatile food additives manufactured through esterification of stearic acid with lactic acid and partially neutralized with food-grade soda ash, available as White or slightly yellowish powder or brittle solid with a characteristic odour. Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is widely used as emulsifier. It is affirmed by US FDA as GRAS(generally recognized as safe) and widely accepted as safe food additive in many countries with E number E481.
